Q: What Are the Best Medical Assistant Programs?
A: Medical assistant training programs use eclectic, and individualized teaching methods to teach medical assistant students important skills, such as how to maintain patient records, manage a physician's schedule, prepare examining rooms, and collect specimens, as well as data entry, resume writing, and job interviewing skills. Upon graduation, their salary will depend on their education, qualifications, and experience.

Important is that those seeking medical assistant training do not overlook that the word "accredited" does not always mean a legitimate institution! Some institutions claiming to be accredited are not necessarily always legitimate, or the best schools to attend. There has been increasing warnings about so-called diploma mills, and gray area institutions of higher learning that are not properly accredited institutions. By selecting a school that is recognized by the right organizations, such as the accreditation sponsors listed below, students have the necessary assurance that they are getting their diploma, or degree from a good school.

The Six Regional Accreditation Bodies for Colleges:
Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools (MSA)
New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC)
North Central Association of Colleges and Schools (NASC)
Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS)
Northwest Association of Schools and Colleges (NASC)
Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC)

Graduates of postsecondary medical assisting programs accredited by CAAHEP or ABHES are immediately eligible to take the Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification exam. Graduates from ABHES accredited medical assisting programs are also immediately eligible to take the Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) examination offered by the American Medical Technologists (AMT).
