American Medical Technologists (AMT). AMT is a professional membership and certification
association established in 1939 to provide nationally recognized certifications for
medical assistants, phlebotomists, and laboratory technicians based on their training, or years of experience
in the field. AMT certifications are recognized nationally and internationally. All of AMT's
examination-based certifications are accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA).
Furthermore, the AMT Board of Directors has determined that the following applicants may be
considered for certification without further examination:
A. Applicant has taken and passed another certification organization’s generalist examination
for medical assistant/medical technologist, provided that the organization’s exam has been approved by AMT, and
provided that the applicant meets AMT’s training, experience, and educational requirements.
B. Applicant has taken and passed a generalist medical assistant/medical technologist
level examination for state licensure, provided that the state’s exam has been approved by AMT, and provided
